Project Description

BX BRT EAST TRANSIT CENTER

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Birmingham Xpress (BX) is a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that serves the Birmingham communities and the surrounding areas. The system includes the creation of a ten (10) mile transit corridor aimed to deliver fast, reliable and cost-effective mobility services among neighborhoods.

The BX BRT East Transit Center serves as one of the major stations where passengers can transfer between the BX system and the local bus service, MAX. The East Transit Center includes a Transit Station that provides passenger amenities along with small support spaces for Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJTCA).

Efforts were coordinated with other architectural disciplines to provide a comprehensive design. Engineering services include civil site design, site grading and drainage plan, erosion and sediment control plans, utility systems design, civil construction details and construction administration.
